Greener Schools
Greener Schools is a Community Interest Company which provides environmental education in the form of assemblies and workshops to inspire and empower UK school children to understand that they have a significant role to play in tackling climate change and other pressing environmental issues, Our education programme, which is tailored for primary school children, is called eco-Eagles and is delivered through a series of impactful and interactive whole school assemblies and hands-on workshops targeted at specific age groups. Each assembly and workshop focuses on a different environmental issue and meets the requirements of the curriculum.
We also help schools to become more sustainable by working with them to develop and implement a Climate Action Plan. First we gain a thorough understanding of the school’s sustainability baseline. We do this by gathering data to carry out a carbon footprint calculation using an on-line tool and conducting a school visit to get a thorough understanding of the existing school environment and the environmental behaviours and culture within the school. Using these baseline assessments we develop a list of actions the school could include in a Climate Action Plan and work with the Headteacher and/or Sustainability Lead to identify the those actions to be included in the school’s first Climate Action Plan. Following the development of the plan, we can also work with the school to assist in the implementation of their Climate Action Plan.
