Commitment to Accessibility

St Albans Greener Together is committed to making the website and services as accessible and user-friendly for as many people as possible. We’re committed to making the website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Measures to Support Accessibility

We have taken the following measures to ensure accessibility:

  • Ongoing Improvements: We are continually working to improve the accessibility of our website.

Accessibility Features

Content is perceivable because we strive to:

  • Provide text alternatives for non-text content (e.g. images).
  • Provide captions and other alternatives for multimedia.
  • Create content that can be presented in different ways without losing meaning.
  • Make it easy for users to see and hear content (e.g. by using colour , offering multimedia controls, and allowing text resizing).

Content is operable because we strive to:

  • Make all essential functionality available from a keyboard.
  • Give users enough time to read and use content.
  • Do not use content that causes seizures.
  • Help users navigate and find content.

Content is understandable because we strive to:

  • Make text readable and understandable.
  • Use easy-to-comprehend text and avoid complex wording.
  • Make content appear and operate in predictable ways.
  • Guide users to avoid and correct mistakes.

Content is perceivable because we strive to:

  • Make content able to be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

Other examples of accessibility measures that we’ve taken:

  • Text Alternatives: We strive to ensure all images on our site have alternative text descriptions unless the images are decorative.
  • Contrast and Readability: We strive to ensure sufficient colour contrast between text and background.
  • Plain English: We’ve ensured that the text on our website is as simple as possible to understand by displaying full names, such as “St Albans Greener Together,” instead of abbreviations like “SAGT.”
  • Assistive Technology Compatibility: Our site is designed to be compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies. However, since some third party features and plugins have been used in the creation of the website, we can’t guarantee that all aspects of the site are compatible.
  • Video Content: Any video content that is present on the site include closed captions.

Areas for Improvement

We are aware of some areas where we could improve accessibility:

  • We’re committed to regularly reviewing our website and its content.

3rd Party Content

Our site includes 3rd party content and documents. We cannot guarantee that all 3rd party content is accessible. We are not responsible for any 3rd party content.

We often link to 3rd party websites or documents when there is useful information that relates to our services. We also often create content on 3rd party platforms. For example, we create video content on YouTube and other social media. We’re responsible for making sure the content is accessible but we’re not responsible for YouTube’s platform and any other 3rd party platform.
