New Interactive Retrofit Guide for Hertfordshire Residents

Residents across Hertfordshire can now access a new interactive guide to help make their homes more comfortable and energy-efficient make your home more comfortable and energy-efficient.

The Hertfordshire Climate Change and Sustainability Partnership (HCCSP), which is made up of all ten district and borough councils in Hertfordshire, the county council and Hertfordshire Futures (formerly the LEP), has unveiled the “Retrofitting Your House: For a cosier, greener home” guide, detailing cost, energy and carbon savings for seven typical home types in the county.

The guide covers both low-cost measures like smart meters and thermal curtains, and more significant upgrades such as insulation, heat pumps, and renewable energy solutions. Enhancing a home’s energy efficiency can boost its value by up to 10% and improve residents’ health and wellbeing.

This open-access resource empowers homeowners to initiate the adaptions necessary to stabilise energy bills and create a cosier, safer home. It provides comprehensive plans, detailed explanations, and specifications to help homeowners confidently start their retrofit journey. The guide is tailored to various home types, from Victorian terraces to modern structures, and references listed, heritage, and conservation properties, as well as advice for leaseholders and renters.
