The Launch of Share St Albans

St Albans now has its own ‘Library of Things’

Have you every heard of a library of things? The aim of the library is to encourage people to borrow items rather than buy. Often, we find ourselves buying things we know we have little use for because we need it in that moment. The new Share St Albans library of things allows you to borrow from their stock of items, reducing money spent and your environmental impact.

The project is run by the Green House, with funding from our Net Zero Fund. Items in the library were chosen based on surveys and learnings from other libraries around the country. We are so happy to hear that items are already being borrowed, especially for community events. Their first loan was of a projector for a community bat event!

Annual membership is £10 with hire charges costing between £1 and £4 with a few larger items costing £8.

The library is at the Green House’s London Road Location, above Jefferson Eco. It is open from 11-2 pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and on Thursday evenings from 5pm until 7pm.
