Video guidance

If you would rather tell your sustainability story through a video, please email it to us at greenertogether@stalbans.gov.uk

The video needs to adhere to the following guidelines:

We reserve the right to reject any story that doesn’t meet our standards without explanation. Examples of videos that are likely to be rejected are advertisement videos, promotional videos, videos that may cause offence, promote illegal activities and cause a conflict of interest. This list is not exhaustive.

The video must be no longer than 2 minutes.

The format of the video must be MP4 or MOV.

To ensure that our content is accessible to all, we kindly ask you to include burnt-in captions (subtitles) in your videos before submitting them to our website. This helps everyone, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing, to enjoy your amazing work.

Here are a few user-friendly apps you can use to add captions:

  1. Kapwing – Easy-to-use online tool for adding captions.
  2. Clips (iOS) – Automatically generates captions while you speak.
  3. Veed.io – Online video editor with a simple captioning feature.
  4. CapCut – Free video editor with powerful captioning tools.
  5. Clipchamp – Versatile video editor with easy captioning options.

Please ensure your captions have sufficient color contrast. For example, use white text on a dark background or black text on a light background. This makes the captions easy to read for everyone.

For a professional touch, consider adding a semi-transparent background (sprite) behind your captions. This can be done in most captioning tools and helps improve readability.
